Sony launches Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium at Rs 52,990 and Rs 62,990, respectively



NEW DELHI: Electronics giant Sony has launched Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium at Rs 52,990 and Rs 62,990, respectively. The Xperia Z5 will be available starting October 23 while the Premium variant will be available starting November 7.

The company had launched the two phones along with the Xperia Z5 Compact during IFA 2015, Berlin in September. Sony will not launch the Xperia Z5 Compact in the Indian market.

Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be available in dual-sim variants. All the devices are water-resistant (IP 65/68). These are also the first Sony smartphones to feature a fingerprint sensor for security integrated with the power button which is located at the right edge of the phone.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the company's flagship offering and the first smartphone to come with a 4K resolution display. The Z5 Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K ​Triluminos display (3840 x 2160p). It upscales content to 4K, enhancing any native or third party videos or photos so users can view Netflix, YouTube or their own videos in 4K.

The Sony Xperia Z5, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) display. Xperia Z5 series phones feature Sony's new 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23MP sensor and F2.0 G Lens with a 5MP front camera.


The phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB in-built storage expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. The phones support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 that enables users to get 5.5 hours usage with just 10 minutes of charging with a certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger.


The phones support 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options.


Xperia Z5 Premium is backed by a 3,430mAh battery lasting for up to two days, as per the company and comes in chrome, black and gold colours. Xperia Z5 has a 2,900mAh battery and comes in White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green colours.
